The DHT Lab believes that the mentorship and education of students is important to creating the next generation of innovators and designers.
The DHT Lab offers the following education opportunities.

BME 462 & BME 195: Dr. Malkin teaches two undergraduate classes related to undestanding and designing of medical devices in the developing world.
- EWH Summer Institute: For almost a decade, the DHT lab has worked closely with Engineering World Health to run hands-on educational programs based in Nicaragua and Tanzania for students during the summer.
- Student Research: The DHT lab supports student work through two fellowships, work study positions, and mentoring students in national design challenges.
